Tapio Räisänen (born May 10, 1949 in Taivalkoski ) is a former Finnish ski jumper .
Career
Räisänen, who jumped for the Kainuun Hiihtoseura , made his international debut in the opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament 1975/76 on December 30, 1975 in Oberstdorf . After his best result was 28th place in Innsbruck , he finished the tour in 37th place overall.
In 1976 he won the Finnish championship on the large hill. In the same year he jumped to second place at the Svenska Skidspelen in Falun . At the ski flying world championship in 1977 in Vikersund he reached seventh place.
At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1978 he surprisingly became world champion on the large hill with jumps on 111.5 and 108 meters, and on the normal hill he was sixth with jumps on 83.5 and 84.5 meters. In the team competition, he and the team won the silver medal behind the victorious team from the GDR . In the summer of 1978 he won the jumping on the plastic covered hill in Berchtesgaden .
With the Four Hills Tournament 1978/79 he denied his best tour. With the ninth place on the Paul-Ausserleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen , he achieved his best individual tour result.
After winning an FIS jumping competition in Sapporo in 1980, he achieved his only A-class victory after the 1978 World Cup. It was also his last major success before he ended his career.
Räisänen is married and has two children. Today he works in tourism and runs the holiday complex Kuuharjun Mökit ( Eng . Log houses Kuuharju ) in the Lappish Taivalkoski . He is also involved in his ski jumping school for children and young people. The Finnish Minister of Education and the Ministry of Culture presented Räisänen with the 20,000 euro “Pro Sports Recognition Award” on December 19, 2012 for his achievements in sport.
