Egon Theiner
Egon Theiner (born February 13, 1968 in Bozen , South Tyrol ) is a sports journalist and author .
Life
After graduation at the Classical High School in Bozen he studied for some time Law and was simultaneously sporty and active judoka (1980-1992) and fencing (1992-1995) and journalist in Bolzano operates.
Career as a journalist, author and communications manager
Egon Theiner began his journalistic career as a trainee at the South Tyrolean daily newspaper Dolomiten . He then worked from 1989 to 1995 as the responsible sports editor for the South Tyrolean Sunday newspaper Zett (both from Athesia ). He then moved to the Salzburger Nachrichten and worked there from 1995 to 2002 in the sports department, with a focus on Nordic skiing ; For example, he reported on the Winter Olympics in 1998 and 2002. He also supported Jens Weißflog in writing his autobiography Stories of my Life .
In 2004 he founded his own publishing company, egoth Verlag GmbH , based in Vienna .
Between 1999 and 2018 Egon Theiner was a press manager at various major events, including a. the Olympic Games 2008 and 2012 or the Olympic Winter Games 2006 and 2010. In the competition seasons 2008/09 to 2011/12 he worked for the International Ski Federation.
In 2014 he worked for Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) at the Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia) and at the Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing (China). In 2015 Theiner was involved with International Sports Broadcasting (ISB) at the first European Games in Baku (Azerbaijan). In 2016 he worked for UEFA as Venue Media Operations Manager for six months in Toulouse for the European Football Championship. He then worked again for OBS in Rio de Janeiro at the Olympic and Paralympic Games. In 2018 he worked in Pyeongchang at the Olympic Winter Games as Venue Media Manager for ski jumping, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined and snowboarding / big air.
Egon Theiner has been married since September 2011.
Trail running and ultramarathons
Since the end of 2016, Theiner has devoted himself to running, especially trail running and ultramarathons. Erd competed in the Stelvio Marathon (2017, 2018, 2019), the Innsbruck Alpine Trail Festival (2018 / K42, 2019 / K85), the Schwarzach Trail (2018), the Zermatt Gornergrat Ultramarathon (2018), the Winterwald Ultra Trail ( 2019) and the Ultra Trail Lago d'Orta (2019). At the 24-hour state championship in Bad Blumau in July 2020, Theiner achieved fourth place in the team classification with 160.64 kilometers, together with ULT Heustadlwasser club colleagues Andreas Michalits and Heinz Schaludek.
