Richard "Richie" Schallert (born April 21, 1964 in Brand , Vorarlberg ) is a former Austrian ski jumper and current ski jumping trainer.

Career

His greatest successes were a fifth place at the ski flying world championship in 1983 in Harrachov and the bronze medal in the team competition with Andreas Felder , Franz Neuländtner and Ernst Vettori at the world championship in 1987 in Oberstdorf .

After the end of his career as an active jumper, he was a trainer in the Austrian Ski Association from 1989 (A, B, C squad). From summer 2006 to spring 2009 he was the head coach of the Czech national team.

From 2009 to 2010 he trained the C-team of the German Ski Association .

From March 2011 to October 2012, Schallert was the head coach of the Russian national team. On October 9, 2012, the Russian Ski Association surprisingly announced his dismissal and that of the Austrian service man Gerhard Hofer.

From April 2014 to April 2018, Schallert was again the head coach of the Czech national team. In April 2019, Schallert took over the coaching position of the Japanese ski team Tsuchiya Holdings , with which he will train, among others, Noriaki Kasai , Ryōyū Kobayashi and Yūki Itō .

Private

Schallert grew up in a family with nine siblings and is the third oldest of a total of seven brothers and three sisters; his brother Gerhard Schallert was also a ski jumper.

He attended the Stams ski school . Schallert is married, has a daughter and lives in Absam .
