Chiara Hölzl (born July 18, 1997 in Schwarzach im Pongau ) is an Austrian ski jumper . At the Junior World Championships in 2016 in Râşnov , she won the title in the individual competition for women. In the overall World Cup of the 2019/20 season, she finished second after a total of six individual victories.

Career

Chiara Hölzl took 47th place in her debut in the Ski Jumping Continental Cup on August 14, 2010 in a competition in Bischofsgrün . Neither in the competition on the following day nor in the following season could she jump into the top 30 and is therefore not included in the overall ranking. It was not until the summer season 2012 that she jumped into the points in Lillehammer, Norway, and after two competitions on Lysgårdsbakken, she finished 21st in the final ranking.

In her first World Cup appearance , Chiara Hölzl came 47th on November 24, 2012 in Lillehammer. She got her first World Cup point on January 5th, 2013 with the 30th place in Schonach . Then she was able to jump into the top 30 again in the penultimate competition of the season in Trondheim and secured another five World Cup points with 26th place. She finished her first World Cup season in 51st place overall.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2012 in Erzurum , Hölzl reached 39th place in the individual and ninth place in the team competition. After the 13th place at the Junior World Championships 2013 in Liberec , four podiums in the Alpine Cup and the injury-related failure of Daniela Iraschko , ÖSV head coach Harald Rodlauer nominated her for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Val di Fiemme .

As the youngest jumper ever to have competed for the ÖSV at a Nordic World Ski Championships, Goldegger reached ninth place in the women's individual competition on February 22, 2013 in Predazzo and was second-best Austrian behind third-placed Jacqueline Seifriedsberger .

On February 24, 2013, she won the silver medal at the mixed team competition with her teammates Thomas Morgenstern , Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Gregor Schlierenzauer . On March 9, 2013, she secured the Austrian junior championship title in Ramsau am Dachstein . The competition was also the last stop of the Austria Cup 2012/13, in which she won eight out of ten competitions and thus the overall ranking.

At the beginning of the Grand Prix 2013 she could not achieve any points in Hinterzarten and Courchevel . In the further course she was the only Austrian athlete and achieved her best position of the summer with fourth place in Nizhny Tagil . In the overall ranking she finished 19th with 95 points.

After Jacqueline Seifriedsberger's injury-related failure , Hölzl was nominated for the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi alongside Daniela Iraschko-Stolz . When jumping from the normal hill she finished 25th.

On January 11th, 2015 she reached her first podium in a World Cup with a third place in Sapporo . On February 5, 2015, she was able to jump into third place at the Junior World Championships in Almaty and thus win the bronze medal. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun , she finished 16th in the individual.

In the 2015/16 season she achieved two more podium finishes in the World Cup, each with third place in Nizhny Tagil and Ljubno . On March 23, 2016, she was the first time junior world champion at the Junior World Championships in Râşnov . One day later she won the silver medal in the mixed team competition together with Claudia Purker , Maximilian Steiner and Janni Reisenauer . She finished the overall World Cup in fifth place for the first time in the top ten.

The 2016/17 World Cup season was less successful for her. Her best placings were three sixth places, in the overall World Cup she was 13th. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti , she was tenth on the normal hill.

On January 19, 2018, she achieved second place in Zaō, her best placement in a World Cup competition to date. After this result and further placements in the top 10 in the 2017/18 season , she took part in the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang and took eleventh place in the individual competition .

In the 2018/19 World Cup season , she was able to place in the top ten for the first time on January 12th in Sapporo and reached tenth place. At the team competition on January 19, 2019 on the normal hill in Yamagata , she and Eva Pinkelnig , Jacqueline Seifriedsberger and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz took second place behind the German team. On February 3, she achieved a top 5 result for the first time in Hinzenbach with fifth place. Two weeks later she was able to repeat this performance in jumping in Oberstdorf on February 16.

At the Nordic World Ski Championships 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol , Hölzl and the team, which also included Jacqueline Seifriedsberger , Eva Pinkelnig and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz , won the silver medal in the team competition behind the German team. In the individual competition, she came in 26th.

After Hölzl with just two podium finishes in Lillehammer in the World Cup season 2019/20 was started, she won her first World Cup in mid-December jumping in the Vogtlandarena of Klingenthal . After five more victories of the season and the interim lead in the overall World Cup, she finished second behind Maren Lundby from Norway at the end of the season .
