The ski jump was built in October 1924 and the ski jump was opened the following winter. The ski jump was rebuilt for the first time in 1931/32. The Black Forest Championship was held for the first time in 1935. In 1937 the ski jump was enlarged. After the Second World War , the Langenwaldschanze was rebuilt. In 1955, 1963 and 1967 it was rebuilt again. The Black Forest Cup has been held since 1967 and since 1984 it has been held as part of the Nordic Combined World Cup . In 1979 and 2001 the ski jump was rebuilt again. In 1981 and 2002 the Junior World Championships took place on the hill. In order to preserve the hill and the Black Forest Cup, the hill was enlarged in 2010 for 2.25 million euros. The groundbreaking ceremony was on March 30, 2010, and the construction time was nine months. The new hill size is 106 meters. On January 5th, 2011 the new ski jump was inaugurated. At the beginning of January 2012, a women's ski jumping World Cup event was to take place. However, this had to be relocated to Hinterzarten due to a thermal breakdown .
