Markus Rupitsch (born November 8, 1997 ) is an Austrian ski jumper .

Career

Rupitsch celebrated his debut in an international competition on December 14, 2013 when he finished 43rd out of 67 participants in a jumping in the Alpine Cup on the Toni-Seelos-Olympiaschanze in Seefeld in Tirol . The following day he reached the points for the first time with 26th place. On February 14, 2014 he was used for the first time in the FIS Cup and achieved a podium placement right away with third place. In the following years he also jumped mainly in these two competition series.

On 7./8. January 2015 he came to his first appearances in the Continental Cup on the Toni-Seelos-Olympiaschanze in Seefeld in Tirol . After just missing the points in the first competition as 31st, he earned his Continental Cup point with second place the following day. In the following years he jumped again in the Alpine Cup, but reached the points again in his next Continental Cup appearances in September 2015 in Stams . Nevertheless, he was used again almost exclusively in the Alpine Cup. He only came back to higher consecrations in February 2017 when he was nominated for the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Park City . After tenth place in the individual competition, he achieved the bronze medal in team jumping with his teammates Mika Schwann , Clemens Leitner and Janni Reisenauer and fifth in the mixed team competition with Claudia Purker , Sophie Mair and Janni Reisenauer. Then he was used again in February in Brotterode in the Continental Cup, but missed the points. After winning an FIS Cup competition in Kandersteg and Râșnov in September 2017 , he was again used in the Continental Cup and achieved his best results in this series of competitions on the Trambulina Valea Cărbunării in Râșnov with tenth and 13th place . After this success he was considered for the summer Grand Prix jumping in Hinzenbach . Although he was able to qualify for the competition, he then missed the points as 34th. The following winter season he alternated between the Continental Cup and the FIS Cup. On January 5, 2018, he was nominated as part of the national group for the qualification for the final competition of the Four Hills Tournament 2017/18 , but failed clearly as 63rd.

In summer 2018 he started in the FIS Cup. After some good results there, he was nominated for the two Grand Prix competitions on September 22nd and 23rd, 2018 on the Trambulina Valea Cărbunării in Râşnov and achieved his first points at the highest performance level in the second competition with 29th place after he was still disqualified at the first jump. He also qualified for the last competition of the series in Hinzenbach , but clearly missed the points in front of his home crowd as 48th.
