Ski jumping alpine cup

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ski Jumping Alpencup (English OPA Alpen Cup Ski Jumping ) is an international series of young talents organized by the organization of the Alpine Ski Associations in cooperation with the Fédération Internationale de Ski in ski jumping . The competitions are used by the next generation of ski jumpers to compare performance within the Alpine countries' ski associations.

The Alpine Cup was first held in 1977 and now only includes competitions in the junior area. The series has both competitions in winter and mat jumping in summer. For the juniors, the first competition of the season takes place on the first or second weekend in September. The juniors usually start the season with a summer tour in August. For both men and women, the season is divided into two periods. In contrast to other series of competitions, the competitions in the Alpine Cup are characterized by the fact that all competitors are entitled to start in the finals. After there was a women's Alpine Cup between 2001 and 2004, it has been held regularly since the 2012/13 season.

All individual competitions held in summer and winter are used to determine the overall winner of the Alpencup; there is no discarded result. If two or more competitors collectively achieve the same number of points after the final, they must all be placed on the same rank. For the Nations Cup, the best eight athletes count in the individual (Alpine Cup women, the best five athletes) per competition and nation and the best team in the team competition per nation. The Nations Cup is awarded for the men's and women's jumping competitions.

The member associations of the OPA are currently Andorra, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia, Spain and the Czech Republic. Since the 2007/08 season, with Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, in addition to the ten OPA member countries, six Eastern European nations have now and again been allowed to compete. The starting quota for OPA member associations is 15, with the host country also having a nation package of five participants. In addition, the OPA organizes Nordic Ski Games (also OPA Games ), which are the first chances for some athletes to win international medals.

At the moment Jürgen Winkler is the ski jumping coordinator and Anja Tepeš is responsible for the equipment control for the Alpcencup.
