Career

She also took third place in her debut in the Nordic Combined Alpine Cup in March 2017. In the following months she competed regularly in competitions of the Youth Cup and the Alpine Cup in Nordic combined as well as in ski jumping and was extremely successful. While she celebrated her first ski jumping Alpine Cup victory in Klingenthal on August 5th, 2018 , she also won her first combined Alpine Cup competition five days later in Bischofsgrün .

With these successes behind him, Hirner started the 2018 Nordic Combined Grand Prix, which was held for the first time for women, on August 18, 2018, and achieved fourth place in both competitions using the Gundersen method . Nevertheless, at the beginning of winter, she initially competed again in the Alpine Cup, which she was able to dominate in the initial phase. On January 6, 2019, Hirner made his debut in Otepää, Estonia, in the Nordic Combined Continental Cup , which was the highest competition series for women. By reaching second place behind Tara Geraghty-Moats , she immediately demonstrated her talent. At the first official staging of a junior women’s competition at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2019 in Lahti , Hirner narrowly missed the medal ranks as fifth. In the team competition of the special jumpers, however, she managed to make it onto the podium as third together with Marita Kramer , Claudia Purker and Lisa Eder . Hirner finished the season as ninth in the Continental Cup, fourth in the Nordic Combined Alpine Cup and as the winner of the Alpine Ski Jumping Cup.

In October 2019, Hirner became the first Austrian national champion in Nordic combined. At the 2020 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Prémanon , Hirner won the gold medal both in the individual ahead of Ayane Miyazaki and with the mixed team. She was chosen as the flag bearer for the closing ceremony. At the Austrian Junior Championships on February 1 and 2, 2020 in Eisenerz , Hirner won the championship title in both the Gundersen singles over 5 km and over 2.5 km. Hirner only entered the Continental Cup season in February 2020 and was able to take third place against a strong field of participants. She also achieved this at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2020 in Oberwiesenthal in the Gundersen singles behind Jenny Nowak and Gyda Westvold Hansen . In the mixed team competition, which was held for the first time, however, she just missed the medal ranks as fourth together with Johannes Lamparter , Sigrun Kleinrath and Manuel Einkemmer . At the end of the season in Nizhny Tagil , Hirner ran on the podium on both days of the competition and finally finished the Continental Cup in seventh place in the overall standings. In addition, she was the overall winner of the Alpine Cup.
