Jérôme Gay (born February 9, 1975 in Cluses ) is a former French ski jumper .
At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he was the youngest participant in the French team at the age of 16 and reached 43rd place on the normal hill and 54th place on the large hill. In the team competition, he finished 10th together with Didier Mollard , Nicolas Jean-Prost and Steve Delaup .
Career
His first World Cup competition contested Gay on 5 December 1992, Swedish Falun and missed doing with space 36 the points just barely. He won his first World Cup points with a 30th place in the World Cup jumping on January 3, 1993 in Innsbruck . After he was able to improve his performance further, he was nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1993 in Falun, where he reached 42nd place on the normal hill and 39th place on the large hill. With the team he was fourth in the team competition on the large hill.
At the ski flying world championship in Planica in 1994 Gay reached 36th place. In the 1994/95 World Cup season , he achieved his best result to date with 13th place on the normal hill in Lahti. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 in Thunder Bay, Gay reached 7th place on the normal hill. On the large hill, he jumped to 21st place. In the team competition, he finished fourth together with Nicolas Jean-Prost , Nicolas Dessum and Lucas Chevalier-Girod . Two years later, Gay was able to jump into the top 30 on the large and normal hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1997 . A medal win, however, failed again.
In 1998 he was nominated again for the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano and after 37th place on the normal hill he reached 21st place on the large hill.
On November 28, 1999, he achieved the best individual placement of his career with 5th place at the World Cup jumping in Kuopio . In the following World Cups, however, he missed further placements in the points. After finishing 44th at the Ski Flying World Championships 2000 in Vikersund , Gay ended his active ski jumping career.
Since 2016, Gay has worked as a jumping judge in the Ski Jumping World Cup .
