Didier Mollard (born December 4, 1969 in Chambéry ) is a former French ski jumper .

Career

On December 22, 1985, Mollard made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup . He was able to win his first World Cup points from the normal hill in his home country with 11th place. On January 19, 1986, he jumped into the top ten for the first time in Oberwiesenthal and finished fourth. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 in Oberstdorf , he jumped to 51st place on the normal and 46th place on the large hill. In the first competition after the World Championship on March 4, 1987 in Örnsköldsvik , he was able to jump on the podium for the first time in his career with 3rd place. In the following years he was able to achieve this placement three more times.

Mollard was part of the squad for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada . He was able to reach 34th place on the normal hill, tied with Poland's Jan Kowal . At the end of the large hill he was tied with the German Peter Rohwein in 25th place. At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund Mollard flew to 34th place.

Despite rather changing performances in the World Cup, Mollard was again part of the French squad at the 1992 Winter Olympics . Mollard jumped from the normal hill to 8th and from the large hill to 40th place. In the team competition he reached 10th place together with Jérôme Gay , Nicolas Jean-Prost and Steve Delaup . On January 31, 1993 he was able to achieve the highest individual placement of his career in ski flying on the Kulm with 2nd place and was also the only time on the podium in a ski flying. At the end of the season, this performance also made him 2nd in the overall ski flying World Cup ranking. Shortly afterwards he was able to jump from the normal and the large hill to 21st place at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 and finished fourth with the team. On March 14, 1993 he was able to achieve 2nd place and thus his best placement in a World Cup competition on the large hill in Oslo .

In February 1994 Mollard was for the third time in a row for the squad for the Olympic Winter Games . In Lillehammer he jumped from the normal hill to 17th and from the large hill to 10th place. In team jumping he reached 6th place with the team. In the following years he was able to place himself regularly in the top ten in the World Cup, but was unable to generate consistency. After the 1996/97 season he ended his World Cup career before ending his active ski jumping career after another year in the Continental Cup.

With three Olympic participations and a total of six podium finishes, Mollard is one of the most successful French ski jumpers.
