Career

Jean-Prost was accepted into the French national team in 1989 and completed his first World Cup on January 4, 1989 in Innsbruck , Austria , which he was only able to finish as 75th. At the subsequent Nordic World Ski Championships in 1989 , he reached 63rd place on normal hill and 64th place on large hill. In the 1989/90 season his best individual result was a 23rd place in Thunder Bay , Canada . At the ski flying world championship in 1990 in Vikersund he reached 46th place. After another season in the World Cup, he was nominated for the French team for the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . He reached 19th place on the normal hill on February 9, 1992 and 51st place on the large hill on February 16. In the following season 1992/93 he reached the 5th place in the World Cup jumping on February 19, 1992 in Sapporo , Japan, his best individual result to date. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1993 in Falun , Sweden , he surprisingly achieved 4th place in team jumping on February 19, 1993 together with his teammates Jérôme Gay , Steve Delaup and Didier Mollard , ahead of the teams from Japan and Finland . At the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , he and the team with the same line-up could not match the performance of the World Cup and only ended up in 6th place. In the subsequent competition on the large hill, he only reached 47th place, but was able to achieve 22nd place on the normal hill. At the ski flying world championship in Planica , which took place a month later , in the end, a 20th place was on the list of results. In the following season 1994/95 he reached after several top 10 placements with the overall World Cup place 13 the best season result of his career. In the competitions for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1995 , he was able to increase the results of 1993. So he was able to achieve a 6th place on the large hill next to the 4th place in the team competition. After the following two rather mediocre seasons and a 16th place at the Ski Flying World Championships in 1996 in Tauplitz , he ended his active career in jumping after the World Cup jumping on March 17, 1996 with the final jumping of the 1995/96 season .
