Church of Le Sentier

Le Sentier is a village in the Vallée de Joux in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland . It is part of the commune of Le Chenit , the village has 3,000 inhabitants. The village is the administrative seat of the municipality and was the capital of the La Vallée district, which existed until the end of 2007 .

Various Swiss watchmakers have their production facilities in Le Sentier: Jaeger-LeCoultre (since 1833), Gérald Genta , Patek Philippe , Vacheron Constantin .

Toponyms

This place name was first mentioned in 1611 as Sendey after the first settlement. Most of the first inhabitants came from the Lieu and wanted to benefit from the newly cleared areas, as they released new cultivated areas.
