Peter Rohwein (born June 26, 1962 in Isny im Allgäu ) is a former German ski jumper . From October 2004 to March 2008 he was the national coach of the DSV ski jumpers.
Career
Active career
As an active athlete, Rohwein first started in Nordic Combined , but was then placed in the ski jumping team . As a ski jumper, he took part in several World Cup and Olympic competitions. In 1981 he won the German Youth Championships in Neustadt . In 1984 he became German champion on the 90 meter hill in Ruhpolding. From 1980 to 1988 he was a participant in the Four Hills Tournament . His best World Cup placements were two sixth places in Chamonix (1985) and Engelberg (1982). With the 1988 Winter Games , he ended his career as an active athlete. In the same year he was appointed by Ewald Roscher to his coaching team.
Coaching career
From 2000 to 2003/2004 he looked after the German national team in Nordic combined as a jumping coach. He led them back to the top of the world and celebrated several successes with the team. In October 2004 he replaced Wolfgang Steiert as national coach of the DSV ski jumpers. For the 2008/2009 season he was replaced by Werner Schuster . He is currently training the DSV B-team together with Bernhard Metzler .
