Bernhard Metzler (born June 13, 1979 ) is a former Austrian ski jumper and today's ski jumping trainer.

Athletic career

Metzler jumped his first World Cup competition on February 7, 1999 on the large hill in Harrachov . He finished jumping in 48th place and so remained without World Cup points. In his second competition on December 4, 1999 in Val di Fiemme , Italy , he won his first World Cup points with 28th place. He repeated this success a day later and even increased the result to 25th place. Two weeks later he jumped to 22nd place in Zakopane, Poland . When jumping in Iron Mountain on February 27, 2000, he achieved his best individual result in the World Cup with 15th place. At the end of the 1999/2000 World Cup season , he was 43rd in the overall World Cup ranking. He was also able to jump into the points several times at the Summer Grand Prix 2000 . At the beginning of the 2000/01 season, however, the performance decreased and Metzler could only jump into the points once in six World Cup competitions. Therefore, he jumped from the 2001/02 season in the Continental Cup (COC) and was able to win his first COC points in his first competition on November 17, 2001 in Kuusamo, Finland . On January 26th, 2002 he jumped 9th place for the first time in the top 10 in an individual competition in Lauscha . He was able to repeat this success several times. Metzler achieved his best result in Westby on February 16, 2003, when he was able to jump onto the podium for the first time with second place. Exactly one year later he was able to repeat this success and came back to second place in Westby. After the end of the season on March 7, 2004, he finished his active ski jumping career with a 9th and 16th place in ski flying in Vikersund at the age of only 24 .

Coaching career
