Career

Benedik made his international debut in March 2008 at the FIS junior competitions in Bois-d'Amont . In September 2009, Benedik started for two competitions in Einsiedeln in the Ski Jumping Alpine Cup , before starting in February 2010 in the FIS Cup . At the Slovenian Ski Jumping Championships 2011 in Kranj , he and the team won the bronze medal. On October 2, 2011, Benedik in Oberwiesenthal achieved a podium finish for the first time with second place in the Alpine Cup. At the Slovenian Ski Jumping Championships in Kranj in 2012 , he won the silver medal with the team that also included Tomaž Naglič . In September 2012 he made his debut at the Ski Jumping Continental Cup in Klingenthal . After a 51st place in the first competition and the disqualification in the second competition, Benedik found himself in the roster of the Alpine Cup again after the competition. After three top 10 placings in a row, Benedik returned to the Continental Cup in December 2012, where he jumped straight into the points with 24th place in Engelberg. In January 2013 he won a competition in the Alpine Cup in Planica and came second in the second competition.

At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 2013 in Liberec , Benedik was 35th on the normal hill. After the Junior World Championship, he narrowly missed the podium in the Continental Cup in Planica with fourth place. On February 9, 2013, he jumped on the Pine Mountain Jump in Iron Mountain for the first time with second place on the podium in the Continental Cup. Four days earlier he had won silver again at the Slovenian Ski Jumping Championships in 2013 with the team. In the individual, he narrowly missed the podium with fourth place.

At the end of the 2012/13 season , he finished third in the overall Continental Cup winter ranking. However, it was his only year of success in the series. After the end of the Continental Cup season, he traveled to Scandinavia with the World Cup squad and took part in the qualifications for the ski jumping World Cup in Lahti , Kuopio , Trondheim and Oslo . Sometimes he succeeded in this, but he remained in all competitions without any points. He also took part in the qualification for the ski flying for the season finale in Planica , but narrowly failed in 33rd place. Since the winter of 2013/14, Benedik has mainly started in the FIS Cup again.
