Lackner made his international debut on March 1, 2008 in Bois-d'Amont in a junior competition and finished third. After several starts in the Alpine Cup , he made his debut in the FIS Cup on January 31, 2009 in Eisenerz and took 14th place. In the summer of 2010 , Lackner made his debut in the Continental Cup in Villach and made it into the points straight away, finishing 11th and 19th. This summer he took part in several FIS and Alpine Cups. At the beginning of winter, Lackner competed in several Alpine Cups. In Neustadt and Bischofshofen he started in the Continental Cup and always made it to the 2nd round. In Iron Mountain , Lackner clearly missed it as 38th of 42 jumpers. A little later he won an FIS Cup in Villach. He won his first Alpine Cup in Lauscha . In the summer of 2010 Lackner only competed in the Alpine Cup and won three of four competitions. Also in winter, apart from the Continental Cups in Brotterode and Kranj and the FIS Cups in Ruhpolding, he only competed in the Alpine Cup. In the end he won the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup by a large margin ahead of Stefan Kraft and Jaka Hvala . At the Junior World Championships in Otepää he finished sixth in the individual and won the gold medal in a team with Michael Hayböck , Stefan Kraft and Markus Schiffner .
