Stefan Thurnbichler (born March 2, 1984 in Innsbruck , Tyrol ) is a former Austrian ski jumper .

Career

He is a member of the Kitzbühel Ski Club and belonged to the Austrian A-squad, the second highest squad of the ÖSV . At the Junior World Championships in 2002 in Schonach in the Black Forest , he took sixth place in individual jumping. At the beginning of his career he jumped mainly in the Continental Cup . It was not until the 2009/2010 season that he started playing regularly in the World Cup . He also took part in the Four Hills Tournament this season and reached 15th place overall. He achieved his best individual placement in the World Cup with a 4th place on January 16, 2010 in Sapporo .

At the World Cup competition in Willingen on February 7, 2010, he and the team reached 3rd place. Already on March 21, 2003 he had finished the jumping in Planica in 3rd place , also with the Austrian team .

His personal distance record is 224 m. His younger brother Thomas was also a ski jumper.
