Career

Dorner began his international career at the 1995 World Junior Championships in Gällivare, Sweden . In team jumping on the normal hill, he won the silver medal together with Werner Schernthaner , Martin Zimmermann and Reinhard Schwarzenberger . Shortly afterwards, Dorner started in the ski jumping Continental Cup for the first time . In the summer of 1995, the then 15-year-old Dorner was appointed to the national team by the then ÖSV head coach Andreas Felder . A short time later, Dorner made headlines by winning the World Cup Summer Grand Prix in Stams. He won ahead of Hiroya Saito and Kazuyoshi Funaki . On December 8, 1995, Dorner made his debut in the ski jumping World Cup . In his first competition in Villach , he finished 31st at the end of the year and so only missed out on the World Cup points by one place. Two weeks later he was able to win his first World Cup points with 21st place in Oberhof . At the Junior World Championship in 1996 in Asiago , Italy , which took place in February , he again won the silver medal in the team competition together with Martin Zimmermann, Markus Eigenler and Michael Kury . Shortly thereafter, he finished the 1995/96 Continental Cup season for the first time on a place in the overall standings. He reached 98th place with 86 points. In the following season he reached the 44th place with a total of 225 points. He also started again at the World Youth Championship and won the Canadian Canmore in the team competition the bronze medal. In the Continental Cup he was able to increase his performance again in the 1997/98 season. In the end he finished 21st in the overall ranking with 426 points. Because of this good performance, he also belonged to the national group at the World Cup jumping in Innsbruck on January 4th, 1998 . From January 1999 he started again for some competitions in the World Cup, where he won two more World Cup points on the large hill in Harrachov . On March 18, 2001, Dorner played his last World Cup competition as part of the Ski Flying World Cup in Planica . After the season he ended his career in the World Cup and the Continental Cup. In 2003, however, he jumped three more competitions in FIS races before he finally ended his career at the age of only 24.

Today Dorner works as a marketing and sponsoring manager at the Harti Weirather agency , WWP.
