Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1996
The 29th Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1996 took place from January 29th to February 4th 1996 in Asiago, Italy. After 1972 ( Tarvisio ) and 1987 (also in Asiago) Italy was the host of this most important junior competition in Nordic skiing for the third time.
The most successful nation in the competitions was Russia with three gold medals and one bronze medal, which were won in the cross-country skiing competitions, ahead of the German team with two gold and one silver medal. In third place in the medal table came Finland, which won a gold and silver medal as well as three bronze medals and was able to collect the most precious metal with a total of five medals. The most successful athletes were the Russian cross-country skier Julija Tschepalowa and the German ski jumper Michael Uhrmann , each with two gold medals.
Competition venues
The ski jumping competitions and the Nordic combined jumping were held on the Trampolino del Pakstall in nearby Gallio . The cross-country skiing competitions of the specialists and combiners took place on the trails around Asiago.
