Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1983
The 16th Nordic Junior World Ski Championships 1983 took place from March 11th to 13th, 1983 in Kuopio , Finland . They were held for the second time in Finland after 1975 ( Lieto ).
The most successful nation in the title fights was the Soviet Union with three gold, one silver and three bronze medals, followed by the GDR with one gold and two bronze medals and Finland with one gold and one bronze medal. Austria won a gold medal. The second most medals after the Soviet Union went to Norway, which did not win gold, but did win five of the six silver medals awarded. The Soviet Union was particularly successful in cross-country skiing, where it won all of its seven medals.
Competition venues
The ski jumping competitions were held on the Puijo ski jump built in 1949 . The cross-country competitions of the combiners and the specialists were held on trails in the area.
