Holger Bauroth (born February 7, 1965 in Suhl ) is a former German cross-country skier .

Career

Bauroth took part in competitions of the Fédération Internationale de Ski until 1995 . He achieved his first international success at the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1983 in Kuopio . There he won bronze with the relay. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in Trondheim in 1984 , he won silver in the relay and gold over 10 km. At the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships in 1985 in Täsch , he won silver over 10 km. He completed his first World Cup race in February 1986 in Oberstdorf , which he finished in 12th place over 50 km freestyle. At the GDR ski championships in 1986 he was three times champion over 30 km, over 50 km and in the relay. In January 1988 in Strbske Pleso he achieved his first podium in the World Cup with second place over 15 km freestyle. At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , he finished 22nd place over 30 km, 21st place over 15 km and fifth place over 50 km freestyle. In March 1988 he came in second again in the 30 km freestyle. He finished the season in fourth place in the overall standings. In the same month he won the GDR ski championships over 50 km. In the following season he took third place over 30 km classic in Nove Mesto and second place in Oslo over 50 km freestyle further World Cup finals. He finished the season in seventh place in the overall World Cup ranking. At the GDR ski championships in 1989 he won over 15 km classic, 15 km freestyle and with the relay. His best placings at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 were ninth place over 15 km freestyle and sixth place with the relay. After the fall of the Wall he only took part in a few World Cup races and mainly competed in the Continental Cup. In 1990 he became German champion over 50 km. At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , he achieved 28th place over 30 km, 26th place over 50 km and sixth place with the relay. At the German championships in 1992 he won over 15 km.

Since the end of his active career, Bauroth has worked as a trainer, u. a. he trained René Sommerfeldt and looked after the cross-country skiers at the 2nd Winter Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer 2016.
