Tuomo Sakari Ylipulli (born March 3, 1965 in Rovaniemi ) is a former Finnish ski jumper . He jumped for the club in his hometown, the Ounasvaaran Hiihtoseura .

Career

He made his international debut on December 30, 1982 at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf ; he immediately reached 14th place. In the following five years, Ylipulli was among the world's best and often reached the top ranks, especially on ski flying hills. At the Junior World Championships in 1983 in Kuopio he won the bronze medal, at the Ski Flying World Championships in 1986 in Bad Mitterndorf , he reached fifth place. He achieved his only World Cup victory on January 6, 1987 at the Four Hills Tournament in Bischofshofen .

However, he celebrated his greatest successes in the Finnish team led by Matti Nykänen . With her he became team world champion in 1985 and 1987 and won gold in team jumping at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary. After the winter of 1987/88 he ended his career.

His older brother Jukka was a successful Nordic combined skier ; the younger brother Raimo also started as a ski jumper in the World Cup.
