Career

Pusenius, who was accepted into the national team in 1981, jumped in the World Cup for the first time in his home town of Lahti on March 7, 1981 . He finished jumping on the large hill in 14th place.

At the Junior World Championships 1982 in Murau he won the silver medal on March 3, 1982 on the normal hill. The following season 1982/83 was the most successful World Cup season of his career. He was able to steadily increase his performance and was able to achieve his only podium finishes in the World Cup on the Čerťák large hill in Harrachov with a 2nd and a 3rd place. On February 12, 1984 he won the gold medal in front of the GDR team at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1984 in Engelberg in a team with Pentti Kokkonen , Jari Puikkonen and Matti Nykänen .

At the 1984 Winter Olympics and the associated world championship in ski jumping in Sarajevo , he reached 20th place on the normal hill on February 12, 1984 and 16th on the large hill on February 18.

After the Olympic Games, with one exception, he could not jump beyond a place in the top 30 in the World Cup. On January 17, 1985 he was again part of the Finns' squad for the Nordic World Ski Championships 1985 in Seefeld in Tyrol . In the end, however, he only finished 35th on the large hill. On March 2, 1986 he jumped again a World Cup competition in Lahti, which he was able to finish in 12th place. He then ended his active ski jumping career.
