Henry Glaß (born February 15, 1953 in Rodewisch ) is a former German ski jumper and today's ski jumping trainer.
Career
Glaß is the son of the Nordic combiner Gerhard Glaß and belonged to the SC Dynamo Klingenthal . His greatest successes were the bronze medal on the large hill at the 1976 Olympic Games in Innsbruck , the bronze medal at the Ski Flying World Championships in 1977 , the silver medal in jumping from the normal hill at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1978 and 2nd place at the Four Hills Tournament 1971/72 . He also won the 1978 ski flying week in Ironwood (USA) with a top distance of 154 meters. Henry Glaß became two-time GDR champion, in 1980 on the large hill and 1981 on the normal hill, he won the runner-up title in 1975 and 1980 on the normal hill and in 1977 on the large hill. He won a bronze medal at the 1973 championship on the normal hill. His coaches included Harry Glaß , Jürgen Wolf and Herbert Leonhardt .
Glaß had been assistant coach of the German national ski jumping team since the mid-1990s. From the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Glaß was excluded from the NOK as a trainer after it became known that Glaß had had contacts with the Ministry for State Security in the GDR .
Henry Glaß has been working at the Landesleistungszentrum in Klingenthal since May 2008. There he trains the young jumpers from Saxony.
