The Aschbergschanze in Klingenthal was one of the most famous sports facilities of the SC Dynamo.

The Dynamo Klingenthal sports club was a performance center for Nordic skiing based in Klingenthal in the Vogtland region . It existed as a sports club from 1957 to 1990, and its members achieved numerous national and international successes.

Harry Glaß was the first German to win an Olympic medal in Nordic skiing in 1956. This was also the first Olympic medal for the GDR.
Sven Hannawald learned the ski jumping ABC at SC Dynamo Klingenthal or in the local KJS .

In 1953, the Dynamo sports association set up its skiing focus in Klingenthal. At the same time, there was the Aufbau Klingenthal sports club. The SC Dynamo Klingenthal was created on December 4, 1957 through a merger of the two. For this, new sports facilities were built, including the Aschbergschanze . The children's and youth sports school in Klingenthal was founded in 1961. Since then, Klingenthal has been one of the most important centers of excellence in the GDR for ski jumping , cross-country skiing and Nordic combined alongside the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof , the SC Motor Zella-Mehlis and the SC Traktor Oberwiesenthal . In addition, SV Dynamo operated a biathlon and bobsleigh focus in the form of SG Dynamo Zinnwald . After the reunification , the Police Ski Club (PSC) Klingenthal, founded on July 2, 1990, took the place of SC Dynamo as the legal successor, but dissolved again two years later. From it later emerged the Vogtland Ski Club (VSC) Klingenthal and a federal base for skiing (together with Oberwiesenthal ).
