Rainer Dietel (born April 15, 1937 in Sayda ) is a former Nordic combined skier who started for the GDR .

Athletic career

Rainer Dietel began his sporting career at BSG Einheit Sayda and, after his success at the GDR youth championship in 1953 (1st place), moved to the SC structure Klingenthal (from 1956 SC Dynamo Klingenthal ). As a result, he took several first places in the GDR youth championship from 1954 to 1958.

GDR championship

In 1959 he was appointed to the national team and immediately took second place at the GDR championship. The following year Dietel took part in the Olympic Games in Squaw Valley . In the following years he always won a medal at the GDR championships until 1966.
