Thomas Prenzel
Thomas Prenzel (born August 7, 1968 ) is a former German Nordic combined athlete . He took part in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary for the GDR . He started for SC Dynamo Klingenthal when he was active .
Career
In 1987 he took part in the Nordic Junior World Ski Championships and won the gold medal in the individual competition. He also won the team competition together with Thomas Abratis and Marko Frank . After the Junior World Championships, he was also allowed to take part in the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf in 1987 and finished ninth in the individual competition.
In the 1986/87 season he collected his first World Cup points in the Nordic Combined World Cup. At the last World Cup of the season in Oslo , he finished 14th and finished the season in the overall standings with eight points on 30th points together with Miroslav Kopal . His best result in the World Cup was in the 1987/88 season . At the World Cup in St. Moritz and Falun , he took sixth place. He finished the season in the overall standings with 31 points in eleventh place together with Andrei Dundukow .
He also took the German Democratic Republic in 1988 at the Winter Olympics in Calgary in part. In the individual competition, he finished ninth and in the team he missed an Olympic medal with Uwe Prenzel and Marko Frank with fifth place.
