SG Dynamo Zinnwald
The SG Dynamo Zinnwald was a winter sports community from Zinnwald-Georgenfeld in the eastern Ore Mountains . During the GDR era, it was the main focus of the Dynamo sports association for biathlon , bobsleigh and luge and thus hardly competed with SC Dynamo Klingenthal , in which Nordic skiing was concentrated.
history
On October 15, 1956, the SG Dynamo Zinnwald was founded as a simple sports community of SV Dynamo in the German-Czech border town. Initially, it was primarily aimed at the Nordic ski area. At the beginning of its existence, however, there were also active people who pursued biathlon, which at that time was in the early stages of its development as a modern sport. From 1959 the SG was developed into a regional biathlon focus on the decision of the central management of the Dynamo sports association . This led to the restructuring of the training facilities and targeted promotion of young talent. In 1964 SG Dynamo inaugurated its new building in Georgenfeld, which replaced a simple hut. While the importance of Nordic skiing in Zinnwald continued to decline, the importance of biathlon increased. In 1967 Altenberg , to which Zinnwald has belonged since 1994, hosted the 8th Biathlon World Cup . Also in Altenberg in 1974 a children’s and youth sports school was established to promote young talent in various winter sports, which was closely connected with Dynamo Zinnwald. After the reunification, on August 7, 1990, the Saxon Wintersportverein Altenberg e. V. founded, which merged with SV Zinnerz Altenberg (formerly BSG Stahl Altenberg) in October 1992 in SSV Altenberg .
