Antoine Cadet de Vaux

Antoine Alexis Cadet de Vaux (born September 13, 1743 in Paris , † June 29, 1828 in Nogent-sur-Oise ) was a French pharmacist , chemist and agricultural scientist .

Cadet de Vaux has made a particular contribution to the improvement of the technical branches of agriculture and to the improvement of horticulture and viticulture . In 1771 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina Scholars' Academy . In 1777 he was one of the co-founders of the Journal de Paris , the first French daily newspaper . In 1791 and 1792 he was president of the Seine-et-Oise department and, during the republic, inspector of the welfare police and the Val-de-Grâce hospital in Paris.

Since 1803 Cadet de Vaux has been one of the editors-in-chief of the Journal d'économie rurale et domestique and the Cours complet d'agriculture pratique . From 1808 he was a corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .
