Heinz Kluge, who started for SG Dynamo Zinnwald when he was active, was one of the most successful East German biathletes in the second half of the 1960s. In 1965 he won the silver medal in singles behind Egon Schnabel , in 1967 Helmut Klöpsch slipped between the two. In 1963, Kluge won the military patrol run alongside Hans-Dieter Riechel , Klöpsch and Dieter Ritter , and two years later he was runner- up with Klöpsch, Horst Koschka and Dieter Speer behind the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof team . Internationally, Kluge competed for the first time at the Biathlon World Cup in 1965 in Elverum, Norway , where he was the best German in fifth place over 20 kilometers. It was also the best World Cup placement by a German starter to date. The high point of his career was participation in the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble . In France, Kluge reached the 24th place in the individual, with the relay he was sixth alongside Koschka, Hans-Gert Jahn and Speer. After his active career, Kluge became a junior coach and looked after Raik Dittrich in Zinnwald, among others .
