Hans-Dieter Riechel (born December 18, 1934 in Benneckenstein (Harz) , † December 2, 2014 in Wernigerode ) was a German biathlete .

Hans-Dieter Riechel ran for SG Dynamo Zinnwald during his playing days . In 1962 he won the bronze medal at the GDR championships behind Günter Baake and Egon Schnabel . A year later he was with Helmut Klöpsch , Dieter Ritter and Heinz Kluge in the military patrol race with the team of Dynamo Zinnwald champion. He also won the individual title, which he was able to repeat in 1964. In the same year he also competed at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck and finished 21st in the race over 20 kilometers.

From 1965 to 1979 he worked as a trainer at SG Rehefeld . He then worked as a chief forester in Schierke , where he was also a member of SG Schierke. He later moved to Wernigerode , where he died a few days before his 80th birthday.
