Weather / climate

see also list of weather events in Europe

From a global perspective, 2014 was the hottest year in some countries (e.g. Germany, Austria, France, Great Britain, Sweden) since NOAA weather records began in 1880. The average temperature over land and seas was 14.6 degrees Celsius ( 0.69 degrees Celsius higher than the mean temperature of the 20th century, 13.9 degrees Celsius). This was announced by the NOAA ( National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration , a US agency). Nine of the ten warmest years globally since 1880 are therefore in the 21st century. There is no sign of a trend reversal in global warming . In Germany, the mean temperature was in double digits for the first time (10.3 degrees Celsius).
