Sabah ( Arabic صباح; real name Jeanette Gergis Al-Feghali ; * November 9, 1927 in Bdadoun ; † November 26, 2014 in Beirut ) was a Lebanese singer and actress . In the Arab world she was considered a musical icon.

Life

Sabah recorded more than 50 music albums in her six and a half decade career and had a repertoire of over 3000 songs. With her warm and expressive voice, she has performed well in the West, as in the opera of Sydney , the Royal Albert Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York .

In addition to her singing career, she appeared as an actress in around 100 Lebanese and Egyptian films and more than 20 plays from 1938 . She was also known as a presenter of concerts and television appearances. Her private life was often the subject of press headlines, especially because of her numerous husbands.

In addition to the Lebanese, she also had Egyptian , Jordanian and US citizenship. Her numerous awards most recently included the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Dubai International Film Festival .
