Baligh Abdel Hamid Hamdi Morsi (حمدي ، بليغ Balīġ Ḥamdī , born October 7, 1932 in Cairo , † September 17, 1993 in Paris ) was an Egyptian composer.

Hamdi was the son of a physics professor and had piano and violin lessons from the age of nine, and oud was added a few years later . He attended AbdelHafid Amam's class for traditional music and studied music with Derwish ElHariri while attending grammar school . He then began to study law, but continued his musical training until he began a professional career as a musician in 1954.

Supported by his teacher Hassan Eshûgaï , he appeared on the radio as a singer and composed his first songs. His first big success was the song Elhob eïh , which the singer Oum Kalsoum interpreted in 1959. He then wrote titles like Why no and Thbinish Be Al Shakl Dah for Fayza Ahmed and Tkhounoh , El Toba , Gana El Howa . Sawah , Zay El Howa and Hawel Teftikerni for Abdel Halim Hafez . Since the 1960s he has been one of the most successful composers in the Arab world, whose songs have been written by singers such as Najat Essaghira , Mohammed Roshdy , Faïza Ahamad , Moharram Fûad , Sharifa Fadel , Hani Shaker , Samira Bensaïd , Shahrazad , Aziza Jalal , Warda , Sabah , Mayada El Hennawy , Shadia and Leila Mourad were sung.

In addition to songs, Hamdi composed the music for several feature films, including Habibati ya misr , Mahr elarûssa , Ya banat skandaria , Tamar henna and Hikayti mâa ezzaman and for more than twenty television series and several musical comedies.
