Najat Essaghira (Es-Saghira) ( Najet Essaghira or Es-Saghira , Nagat or Najat el Saghira or Al Saghira or Al Sagheerah , Arabic نجاة الصغيرة, DMG Naǧāh aṣ-Ṣaġīra ; real name: Najat Mohamed Mahmoud Hosni El Baba ; * August 11, 1938 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian singer and actress.

The half-sister of the actress Souad Hosni began singing songs by Umm Kulthum at the age of thirteen with her brother Ezzadin Hosni , who was a member of the singer's orchestra. In the next few years, among others, Ahmad Sedki , Mahmoud Cherif , Zakaria Ahmad and her brother Ezzadin composed songs for them. She had her first great success with the song Awsifouli El Hob , for which Maamoun Chenaoui wrote the lyrics and Mahmoud Cherif composed the music. After meeting Mohammed Abdel Wahab , she also sang titles by him such as Kol Da Kan Lih , La takzibi , Ayadhono and El Arib Minak .

Also Riad El Sonbaty , the composer of Umm Kulthum , the brothers Mansour and Assi Rahbani , Baligh Hamdi , Kamal Tawil and Mohamed El Mougi wrote songs for them. She had a special reputation as an interpreter of songs based on texts by Nizar Qabbani . Her last chanson Ettamen by Saleh El Charnoubi was written in 2003 before ending her career as a singer. As an actress, Essaghira has appeared in more than a dozen films, including Hadia , Bnti Lbalad and Sabaat ayam fil janaa .
