Marcello Argilli (born April 9, 1926 in Rome , Italy - † October 14, 2014 ) was an Italian lawyer , journalist , writer , children's book author and comic book author .

Life

Argilli studied law and after graduating, first worked as a lawyer and then as a journalist. He made some trips around the world and gradually began to devote himself to literature. In 1951 he was approached by the writer Gianni Rodari to work for the Italian communist daily L'Unità and its weekly children's supplement Il Pioniere . From this collaboration later a friendship developed between the two writers. He later also became editor-in-chief of the children's supplement Il Pioniere dell 'Unita and from 1962 he also wrote the texts for the comics Atomino and Chodino and Ferri , which were implemented by the illustrator and comic artist Vinicio Berti . The Atomino comic was published there as a weekly serial until 1965. The Atomino comic was later published in Italy by Argilli and Berti in book form or comic album form and from 1969 to 1974 in a second series in the weekly supplement, as well as with the similar name: pioneers of the women's magazine Noi Donne , continued again. In the GDR , reprinting of this comic began in 1964 in the children's magazine FRÖSI, sometimes in a different form, and later it was included as an insert in this magazine in piccolo format and an Atomino novel was published, which was also published as a children's book by the children's book publisher Berlin .

As an author, he initially only wrote short stories, later on numerous highly regarded novels , mainly for children: such as Vacanze col padre , Marta quasi donna and Il mondo di Malù . Argilli has written over thirty books in total and many of his works have been translated into around 20 languages ​​and some have also been included in the Italian curriculum. His best-known work in Italy is the Ciao, Andrea from 1971, which is now known there as a classic. Some of his books were also translated into German and published in the former GDR and later in a unified Germany .

He also wrote scripts such as B. for the 1982 television series Anna, Ciro & Co and for Italian children's television for its program Giocagiò , which was broadcast three times a week from 1966 to 1970 by Radiotelevisione Italiana (Rai).
