- Salzburg / Austria : At the presentation of the 8th Austrian Music Theater Prize , Placido Domingo is awarded for life's work. Ursula Pfitzner is honored for the best female lead, Gábor Bretz receives the award for the best male lead. The media award goes to Günther Groissböck .
- North America / United States : NOAA is issuing one of the highest forecasts ever for the number of storms for the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season .

- Kerala / India : When landing at the airport Kozhikode slips one of Dubai forthcoming Boeing 737-800 of Air India called Air-India Express Flight 1344 on the runway out and breaking apart. At least 18 people are killed.

- Minsk / Belarus : According to official information , the incumbent President Aljaksandr Lukashenka wins the presidential election in Belarus with 80% of the vote. The election is considered a sham election because relevant opposing candidates were arrested in advance and election manipulation could be proven. Nationwide protests followed the election. Thousands of demonstrators were arrested.
