- Nordenham : A transport ship with Castor containers from Sellafield for the Biblis interim storage facility has arrived in Germany.
- Manila / Philippines : Typhoon Goni hit land in Luzon and causes severe mudslides. At least 16 people are killed.
- Kabul / Afghanistan : 19 people are killed in an armed attack on the University of Kabul .
- Vienna / Austria : In an alleged terrorist attack in Vienna in the immediate vicinity of a synagogue, four people are killed and at least 15 are seriously injured. It is unclear whether the synagogue was the target of the attack.

- Germany / Leipzig : More than 20,000 people are demonstrating in Leipzig against the current Corona measures . After the demonstration broke up prematurely, there were attacks against journalists and police officers. According to the police, there were also problems with counter-demonstrators.

- Sincan (Ankara) / Turkey : In one of the most extensive trials of the attempted coup in Turkey in 2016 , the so-called Akıncı trial that began in August 2017 (after one of the locations of the coup attempt, the Akıncı military airfield ), the court, which is held in a maximum security prison, pronounces the verdicts against the 475 defendants. 337 defendants are sentenced to life imprisonment under more stringent prison conditions ( Type F prison ) for, among other things, an attempted coup, an assassination attempt on the president and willful homicide , including 15 officers and four civilians 79 times life as a substitute for the abolished death penalty. 60 other accused also received prison sentences, 75 accused were acquitted.
- Berlin / Germany : As part of an amendment to the Packaging Act, the Bundestag passed a legal ban on plastic bags with a wall thickness of 15 to 50 micrometers.
