  • Kankara / Nigeria : The state high school of the Local Government Area in the northern state of Katsina is attacked at night by an armed gang on motorbikes; several hundred schoolboys at the boarding school are kidnapped or flee. The perpetrators are discovered the next day and engage in a shootout with the police. The Islamist terrorist organization Boko Haram is said to have confessed to the act.
