The 11th European Men's Handball Championship took place in Denmark from January 12th to 26th, 2014 . The event was organized by the European Handball Federation (EHF) and the Danish Crown Prince Frederik was the patron . In the final, the French team emerged victorious for the third time after 2006 and 2010 . In front of 14,000 spectators at Jyske Bank Kasten in Herning , France clearly defeated the host Danish team 41:32.

Host

The 10th Congress of the European Handball Federation awarded the event to the Danish Handball Federation during its meeting on September 25, 2010 in Copenhagen . The candidacy prevailed in the last vote with 24:22 votes with one abstention against the joint application of Croatia and Hungary .

The draw of the preliminary round groups of the XI. The 2014 European Handball Championship took place on June 21, 2013 in Herning .
Four of the 16 teams qualified were seeded:

  • Denmark on group place 1 in group A
  • Norway on group place 4 in group B
  • France on group place 2 in group C
  • Sweden on group place 2 in group D

The 12 remaining teams were divided into four pots according to their performance in the qualification so that they can be assigned to the remaining group places.
