Career
Since his youth Abalo played in his hometown with US Ivry HB , where he got his first professional contract in 2005. In 2005/06 his club was fourth in the 1st French division and reached the cup final, in 2006/07 they even won the French championship. In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Luc Abalo was voted the best right winger in the French 1st division. In 2008 - and not as initially planned in 2007 - he moved to the Spanish top club BM Ciudad Real . With Ciudad Real he won the Spanish championship and the EHF Champions League in 2009 . In 2010 another Spanish championship was added. 2011 was the least successful season for him since moving to Ciudad Real. He and his team only won the Spanish Cup. After the 2010/11 season he was also associated with the THW Kiel after Ciudad Real announced that they wanted to move to Madrid for financial reasons. He remained loyal to the club and moved with the entire club BM Ciudad Real to BM Atlético Madrid . In the summer of 2012 he signed a contract with the French first division club Paris Saint-Germain . With Paris he won the championship in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 and the French Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2018. For the 2020/21 season, Abalo moved to the Norwegian first division club Elverum Håndball .
Luc Abalo has so far played 259 international matches for the French national handball team and has won several Olympic, world and European championships.
