The Croatian men's national handball team represents Croatia at international handball tournaments .
The Croatian handball federation was founded in 1990 and has been a member of the IHF since 1992 . The team was able to achieve many successes, the biggest were winning the handball world championship in 2003 and the two gold medals at the 1996 and 2004 Olympic Games .
After the successful European Championship in 2000 , Croatia was also chosen to host the 2009 World Championship in 2005 , although none of the specified halls were in place. In the final, Croatia lost to France 19:24. In 2018 Croatia hosted the European Championship again .
