The Hungarian women's national handball team represents Hungary in international tournaments in women's handball .

history

The first tournament participation of the Hungarians was at the field handball world championships, where Hungary won the world championship in 1949 and took third place in 1956 . From 1957 the world championships were also held in the hall . Here Hungary was one of the strongest teams that regularly played for a podium. Hungary was the only team to remain undefeated at the 1965 World Cup and won the indoor title for the first time. At the beginning of the 1980s, however, Hungary lost touch with the world leaders. After the Hungarians were able to re-establish themselves among the world's best in the mid-1990s, the national team celebrated another title win at the 2000 European Championship .
