Anita Görbicz [ ˈɒnitɒ ˈɡørbiʦ ] (born May 13, 1983 in Veszprém , Hungary ) is a Hungarian handball player . The 1.75 m wide player became the 2005 world handball player selected.

Career

Görbicz, who plays for the Hungarian top club Győri ETO KC (shirt number 13) and for the Hungarian women's handball team (shirt number 13), is usually used in the center back position.

Anita Görbicz joined the youth department of the first division club Győri ETO KC early on . Until 2001 she played in the club's second team, but in 1998 - at the age of 15 - she made her debut with the first team in the Hungarian first division. With Győr she won the Hungarian championship in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 as well as in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 , 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 the Hungarian Cup. In 2013 she won a European title for the first time with the EHF Champions League after several unsuccessful finals. In the following season she won this title again. As of October 2014, she was on maternity leave. She made her comeback in September 2015. In 2017, 2018 and 2019 she won the EHF Champions League again. Since the 2020/21 season, Görbicz has also been working as an assistant trainer at Győri ETO KC.

Anita Görbicz played 233 international matches for the Hungarian national handball team. In 2001 she became vice world champion with the Hungarian juniors; with the senior team, they repeated this success in 2003 and won at Euro 2004 and the 2005 World Women's Handball Championship each bronze . She also took part with Hungary in the 2007 women's handball world championship in France.
