Svetlana Dašić-Kitić

Svetlana Kitić , briefly Dašić-Kitić , (born June 7, 1960 in Tuzla ) is a former Yugoslav and Bosnian handball player . In 1988 she was the IHF's first world handball player of the year and can also look back on many national successes.

Club career

With Radnički Belgrade she won the European Cup in 1980 and 1984 . Between 1980 and 1985 she was with her club in every final of this competition. 1986 followed a success in the European Cup Winners' Cup . In September 1987 she was committed by the German second division promoted Buxtehuder SV .

She ended her handball career in the first handball league at the age of 46; At the age of 48, Svetlana Kitić made a comeback in women's handball: She played for the Serbian club Radnički Belgrade in the 2008/2009 season.

National team

In the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , she won with the Yugoslav national team the silver medal . Four years later she won the tournament at the 1984 Olympic Games with Yugoslavia against the team of the Federal Republic of Germany . In both medal wins, she was in the starting line-up in all games (1980: 29 goals, 1984: 22 goals). She also won the bronze medal at the 1982 Women's Handball World Championship with Yugoslavia. She played 205 international matches .

From 2006 to 2008 she was the sports director of the Bosnian women's national team .

Personal

Since Svetlana Dašić-Kitić was born in Bosnia , she opted for Bosnian citizenship after the collapse of Yugoslavia . She was married to the football player Blaž Slišković . This connection was under heavy media observation in Yugoslavia. She was later married to Dragan Dašić; after four years this marriage also ended in divorce. She is the mother of three children.

Honors

It was created in 1988 by the IHF for the world handball named the year. In 2010 she was named the best handball woman of all time by the users of the IHF website.
