Rafael Guijosa Castillo (born January 31, 1969 in Alcalá de Henares , Spain ) is a Spanish handball coach and former handball player who was voted World Handball Player of the Year 1999.

The 1.82 m tall and 75 kg heavy Guijosa came in 1989 from CD Iplacea to BM Guadalajara in the ASOBAL league . In 1993 he moved to Juventud Alcalá from his home district in Madrid. With the club he reached the final of the Copa del Rey in 1994 and played with the Madrilenians in the European Cup Winners' Cup in the 1994/95 season before he switched to FC Barcelona-Cifec at the end of the season , where he was until his retirement in 2002 was active and with which he won numerous titles, including five times the EHF Champions League .

For the Spanish national handball team , he played a total of 119 international matches, in which he scored 538 goals. The left winger was among other things the second best goalscorer of the 1999 World Cup.

As a coach, he was responsible for the Spanish teams BM Alcobendas and BM Toledo as well as the Iranian national team, for example at the 2014 Asian Cup . From the 2015/16 season until April 2019, he coached Ademar León .
