Andrea Lekić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Андреа Лекић ; born September 6, 1987 in Belgrade , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Serbian handball player . In January 2014 she was elected World Handball Player 2013.
Career
Andrea Lekić started playing handball in 1998 at ORK Belgrade. In 2005 the back player moved to ŽRK Radnički Belgrade. Lekić joined a year later ŽRK Knjaz Miloš from Aranđelovac , with whom she won the Serbian championship in 2007. Then the Serbian moved to the Slovenian top club RK Krim , for which she ran for four years. In each of these seasons, she won both the Slovenian Championship and the Slovenian Cup. Her next stop was the Hungarian association Győri ETO KC . With Győri she celebrated the Hungarian championship title in 2012 and 2013, the Hungarian Cup victory in 2012 and 2013 and the EHF Champions League in 2013 . From the 2013/14 season Lekić went hunting for goals for the Macedonian club ŽRK Vardar SCBT , with which she won the championship in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the Macedonian Cup in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. From the 2018/19 season she was under contract with the Romanian first division club CSM Bucharest . With Bucharest she won the Romanian Cup in 2019. Since the 2020/21 season she has been playing for the Montenegrin club ŽRK Budućnost Podgorica .
Andrea Lekić is a member of the Serbian national team . With the Serbian selection she took part in the European Championship in 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 . At the EM 2012 she was elected to the Allstar team. At the 2013 World Cup , the Serb won the silver medal .
