Filip Jícha (born April 19, 1982 in Pilsen ) is a Czech handball coach and a former national handball player .

Career

Filip Jícha started his career at Dukla Prague and later moved to Switzerland for TSV St. Otmar St. Gallen , where he suffered a broken thumb in April 2005 and had to take a long break. From the 2005/06 season he played at TBV Lemgo in the left backcourt . On June 20, 2007 the THW Kiel announced that Jícha will play for the THW from the 2007/08 season . It received a three-year contract until June 30, 2011 and cost Kiel around 400,000 euros. Initially, his previous club, TBV Lemgo, did not want to give him up until the 2008/09 season, but both sides agreed and Jícha played for the THW from July 1, 2007. In 2010 he was the first Czech player to win the EHF Champions League with THW . On July 16, 2012, he extended his contract, which originally ran until June 30, 2014, to June 30, 2016. In August 2015, the contract was terminated prematurely and Jícha moved to the Spanish club FC Barcelona . In the summer of 2017 he left Barcelona and ended his career.

From September 2000 Filip Jícha was a Czech international . He made his international debut against Slovakia in Považská Bystrica , where he scored two goals.

His nickname in Germany is Pavel and in the Czech national team Filda . With a body length of 2.01 m, Jícha weighs 103 kg. For the national team of the Czech Republic, he wore jersey number 9.

Jícha took over the position of assistant coach at THW Kiel for the 2018/19 season. and in the 2019/20 season he was appointed as the successor to Alfreð Gíslason as head coach of the THW Kiel. In his premier season, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he was elected "Coach of the 2019/20 season" with the Meister club and by his colleagues and the managing directors of the Bundesliga.
