Carlos Lima Fuentes (born February 21, 1970 in Lucerne ) is a Swiss handball coach and former handball player. He has Spanish and Swiss citizenship.

Career

Carlos Lima, who is 1.90 meters tall and weighs 95 kilograms, was used in the left wing position. In 1978 he started playing handball at HC Kriens . Lima then played for BSV Borba Luzern , TV Suhr , Ademar León and finally again for TV Suhr. In the summer of 2002 Lima signed a contract with the German Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo . With Lemgo he won the German championship in 2003 and the DHB Supercup in 2002 and 2003 . In 2004 he returned to Switzerland. He later ran for the Spanish first division club CB Torrevieja , for which he was able to achieve a total of 59 hits in 28 missions.

His other successes as a player include winning the Swiss championship with Borba Luzern and TV Suhr and the Spanish championship with Ademar León. He won the Supercup with TV Suhr, and with Ademar León he was runner-up in the European Cup.

In the summer of 2006 Lima returned to HC Kriens, where he was also active as a youth coach. In 2007 he ended his career as a player with HC Kriens. In January 2008 he and Nick Christen took over as coach of the HC Kriens men's team on an interim basis until the end of the season. In January 2009 he took over the trainer position at Grasshopper Club Zurich . In 2011 he took over the coaching position at BSV Stans . Lina has been training the Swiss first division team Spono Eagles since November 2018 . Under his leadership, Spono won the Swiss Cup in 2019.

From 1992 to 2004, Carlos Lima played 181 international matches for the Swiss national team , in which he scored 351 goals. With Switzerland he took part in the 1996 Olympic Games.

Carlos Lima was Swiss triple jump champion in 1991 and 1993 . His personal best is 16.82 m.

Private

After attending school in Kriens , he attended the primary school teacher seminar in Lucerne from 1985 to 1990 and then studied sports science in Zurich from 1990 to 1994 . From 1994 to 1998 Carlos Lima studied business administration in Zurich.

From 1994 to 1999 he worked as an assistant in the sports teacher training program in Zurich. He then worked as an event manager and, from 2004 to 2005, as a sports teacher at the business school in Lucerne. Since 2006 he has been active in the management and marketing of various companies; since 2010 he has been the owner of Calos Lima sports & more GmbH.

Carlos Lima is married and is a father of two.
