Škwor (also spelled škWor ) is a Czech Nu-Metal band from Prague .

Band history

The band was founded in 1998 in Prague as Skwar . The first album Mayday was released under this name , before the spelling was changed to Škwor and stylistically moved from Thrash Metal more towards Mallcore . This was also connected with a replacement of the drummer. The band name is an allusion to škvor = catchy tune.

They are known for their crude, often vulgar texts in which they criticize society, denounce social disadvantage, poke at the police and maintain an old-fashioned image of women.

With the third album Vyvolenej , Škwor made her breakthrough in her homeland. It sold over 10,000 times and was awarded gold . After that, their albums regularly reached the top 10 of the Czech sales charts and in 2011 they reached number one with their sixth studio album, Drsnej kraj .
